On May 18, 2026, representatives from the World Bank and Angola's National Water Directorate, accompanied by the supervision unit, visited the Lubango Water Reservoir project site of SUGEC's Angola Branch. The inspection focused on this water supply livelihood project, which will benefit hundreds of thousands of people. The team conducted on-site inspections of key locations including the newly built reservoir in Mapunda, the control room of the old reservoir, and the newly built reservoir in Capelinha. The inspection team fully recognized the project's standardized construction organization, clean and orderly working environment, and steady and accelerated construction progress, highly commending the project team's professional and pragmatic overseas project management capabilities.

To deliver this livelihood project to high standards and enhance the overseas brand image of Chinese enterprises, the project team meticulously refined site control measures in advance, optimizing details such as material stacking, safety signage, and the construction environment, and welcomed the inspection with a rigorous approach. During the inspection, the branch head shared the company's track record of more than a decade of dedicated performance in Angola's water supply sector. The client fully acknowledged SUGEC's long-standing commitment and sense of responsibility in supporting local livelihood water supply construction.

This on-site inspection effectively enhanced the client's and supervisor's recognition of and trust in the company's project execution capabilities. In the next phase, the project team will continue to strictly adhere to quality and safety standards, seize the critical dry-season construction window, efficiently advance the project, and strive to ensure timely delivery by August 2027.

Funded by the World Bank and led by Angola's National Water Directorate, this project is a benchmark initiative for SUGEC in pursuing the Belt and Road Strategy and deepening its engagement in overseas livelihood infrastructure. Once operational, the project will resolve local water shortages, improve water supply infrastructure, directly benefit more than 100,000 people, convey China's commitment through meticulous engineering, and contribute to improving the well-being and quality of life in Angola.
