On July 11, Ms. Cristina Mafumo, Secretary of State of Tete Province in Mozambique, visited the site of the Phase II Water Supply Project in Tete undertaken by Jiangsu Geology & Engineering Co. ltd (SUGEC) for research and guidance, and highly affirmed the project's construction achievements and technological innovations. Relevant leaders from the Mozambican Water Supply and Investment Fund and the Central Regional Water Supply Company of Mozambique accompanied the research.
This project is the first large-scale comprehensive water supply project undertaken by our company in Mozambique in recent years, with a contract value of 18.83 million US dollars. The core construction works include the demolition and reconstruction of the original water treatment plant and pump control room, as well as the construction of new water storage tanks, pump stations and other facilities. After the completion of the project, the daily water supply capacity of the local water treatment plant will jump from 12,000 cubic meters to 30,000 cubic meters, which will not only significantly improve the guarantee level of domestic water in the region, but also firmly strengthen the defense line for people's water use safety.
During the research, Cristina Mafumo conducted on-site inspections of the three core projects of the project - the Tete Water Treatment Plant, which has completed the first phase of water supply commissioning, the R-II Pumping Station and the well area expansion project. She was particularly full of praise for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system adopted in the project. This system has realized intelligent and automated management and control of urban water supply in Tete and Mocuba regions for the first time, and has been evaluated as "a key breakthrough in promoting the technological upgrading of regional water supply". She also sent a message to the project team, requiring them to strictly follow the construction schedule, complete the subsequent handover work with high standards, and promote the early completion of the project to benefit the local people.
In the process of project implementation, SUGEC has taken the single-project cost control and assessment mechanism as the starting point, comprehensively deepened refined management, and innovatively adopted partial offshore RMB settlement, realizing the coordinated improvement of project quality and comprehensive benefits, and setting a replicable new benchmark for overseas engineering project management. This not only demonstrates the responsibility of state-owned enterprises to serve people's livelihood and fulfill social responsibilities, but also shows the company's professional strength in coping with complex engineering challenges. At present, the steady progress of the project has laid a solid foundation for regional water supply safety and injected new impetus into local economic and social development, which is of far-reaching significance.
In the next step,SUGEC will uphold the craftsmanship spirit of excellence, concentrate superior resources to tackle key problems, and fully ensure the high-quality and efficient completion and delivery of the project. Taking this as a starting point, it will more actively participate in the infrastructure construction in countries and regions along the "Belt and Road", and contribute solid strength to improving people's well-being along the route, serving the country's "Belt and Road" initiative, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
